Afterglow (of your love)
This song is mentioned several times in the new story, so for those of you unfamiliar with The Small Faces, here it is in all its (slightly tinny) glory. The first mix of Yesterday Came Too Soon actually saw the song fade up under the final scene, but I'm increasingly uneasy about using any copyrighted music in the podcasts, so you'll just need to imagine that still happens.
'People who once passed me by, will turn their heads round...'
Altogether now!

music in podcasts
I don't blame you for being trepidatipous about puting music in your podcasts.
The music industry doesn't seem to get it. They are all stick and enforcement, to their own detriment.
For example, they will punish us for using their music without permission, but on the other hand, can we get a reasonable liscence to use it with permisson? For a podcast like yours, it $5 a song would probably be fair, but they are not selling.
They also don't seem to get that exposing people to new music is doing them a favor. I have actually and in fact gone out and bought music that I first heard on some of your ealrier audio books. You have made the music industry money by promoting their music.
Anyway, thanks for at least putting the youtube video on your blog.
Alex
I absolutely agree with you
I absolutely agree with you Alex. The fact is, music sales are continuing to rise, even as certain formats die off. I probably buy more music now, because I'm able to easily hear more music. If I like it, I'll buy it.
I think what the internet does is it robs the music industry of the ability to control what, when and how people listen to music, which can undermine marketing campaigns designed to sell sub-standard product.
I've had quite a few people get in touch about music in the original version of Electricity, telling me they had gone off and bought music I'd used there. Given I'd bought the music myself in the first place, it's hard to see how the music industry is losing out there.
I'd be very happy to pay a licence for a track, as you suggest. Great idea!
Anyway, that's my rant for today. For now, youtube clips will be the way to go, alas.
cheers,
Myke
